On a bright Monday in downtown Juneau, Alaska, Ashley DeRamus of Hoover, Alabama, stood on the scenic Juneau Seawalk and lifted her voice in song. With the majestic mountains and waterfront as her backdrop, Ashley performed the National Anthem, marking a milestone achievement in her journey of patriotism and advocacy.
Ashley, who has Down syndrome, has now proudly recited the Pledge of Allegiance and sung the National Anthem in all 50 states. Alaska was the final stop on her remarkable journey, one she has pursued with heart, determination, and a deep love for her country.
Through the Ashley DeRamus Foundation, she continues her mission of raising awareness about Down syndrome while highlighting the many rewards and positive contributions individuals with Down syndrome bring to society. Her voice not only carried the notes of America’s anthem but also the message of perseverance, inclusion, and hope.
Before singing at the docks, Ashley encouraged the gathered crowd with her trademark words of inspiration:“Don’t let anyone tell you what you can’t do, just show them what you can do.”
Ashley’s 50-state accomplishment is more than a patriotic tribute—it’s a shining example of what happens when determination meets opportunity. She reminds us all that dreams have no boundaries and that every voice deserves to be heard.
